I have typically just avoided a lot of meat, cheese, yoghurt, and ice cream alternatives (with the exception of milk). I also have a particular weakness for anything with coconut. Imagine my disbelief and excitement when I was scanning the shelves of Whole Foods’ dairy isle when I found Turtle Mountain’s new So Delicious Coconut Milk Yoghurt. (Note: I haven’t seen much of these in Canada yet.) It blew my mind. Even before I was a vegan, I was often finnicky with yoghurts, and so this is very highly ranked in my books as my new favorite thing.
Not long after this discovery, Whole Foods started carrying the So Delicious coffee creamer which I was equally excited about. My pleasure wasn’t quite as intense with this one since I rather like the other soy creamers I buy. I like coconut in EVERYTHING. Except, I have now found, in coffee. The flavours don’t jive for me.
Now, little did I know, there is also ice cream. This took the cake for me, because Turtle Mountain has a good variety of traditional ice cream flavours without the dairy (and gluten) and without the stomach rot that usually comes with the dairy varieties. I am in love with the cookie dough and chocolate peanut butter! I then also tried their coconut milk ice cream sandwiches. I have to say, that one of the things I really miss is ice cream sandwiches, but look no farther! And they are only 100 calories a piece.
Definitely, this has been one of my favorite finds of the entire year!
